Ride Guides

Become a Ride Guide.

TGIF is about community, adventure and gravel exploration — connecting cyclists and bringing together good humans who want to ride bikes and create meaningful experiences together.

Why

Why become a Ride Guide?

Ride Guides embody the TGIF mission. They help create community and camaraderie, welcome people into rides, and help turn a route into a shared experience.

The mission

Live and breathe our mission

TGIF is about adventures and friendships, individuality and self-expression. Ride what you want. Wear what you want. The point is the people and the experience, not fitting a cycling mold.

What we seek

What we look for

A real passion for cycling and gravel adventures, and a dedication to community and connection. We look for people who are aligned with TGIF values and comfortable with individuality — theirs and everyone else’s. Above all, we look for genuinely good humans who make other people feel welcome.

Your commitment

What it asks of you

Lead at least one TGIF ride per month. Wear TGIF apparel when you’re representing TGIF or leading a TGIF ride. And share the stoke — through social and through showing up in the community.

Requirements

What you bring

You’re a friendly, welcoming leader with confident bike handling and a feel for group control, able to lead a group safely and responsibly. You can handle basic trailside repairs, communicate clearly, help people out and keep it fun.

You stay calm under pressure and respond appropriately in an emergency, you ride with good etiquette, and you bring enthusiasm and stoke. If you’re comfortable capturing photo or video on your phone along the way, that’s a bonus.

Responsibilities

What the role actually is

Safety comes first. Set expectations clearly at the start, then maintain a pace and group cohesion appropriate to that specific ride format. Address unsafe behavior, read the group dynamic, and initiate emergency assistance when it’s needed.

Obey traffic laws, call out obstacles and hazards, and help with flats and minor mechanicals where you can. Stay in communication with the other Ride Guides about progress, splits and regroups.

Ride format varies by ride. How We Roll on each ride page is the source of truth for that day’s pace, groups and regroups.
